Well.Malcolm.I guess I will invite foreigners and out of state people here.Baytown is a dead town.

Yeah, the site is not growing as quickly as I had hoped (I'm sure it's no secret by now that I'm the owner/operator). I guess the Baytown Sun has cornered the market on Baytown forums. Oh well. I'm glad you guys enjoy the board and I plan to leave it up indefinitely. Now that I'm not spending money on advertising (I was tired of money going out and no visitors coming in), it's fairly inexpensive to run. And it's nice to have a local, online "home away from home" to visit. And who knows, maybe one day it will pick up some momentum. It seems strange that even the free classifieds don't do much though. Maybe I need to make some bumper stickers...

It is not the board. It is the town. I could have gotten a large number of people here already. But they are all over the USA ,Canada and several foreign nations. Then I wonder how they will get along as a group? But then it could not be as bad as letting a good board sink. Here is one thing some comment about.I have about the same feelings on the matter. You can find local, state and national news and gossip anywhere including Google. Those who come here look for a personal sort of board and when they open the page they see things by professional journalist. I tossed my TV in my pond years ago to get away from those verbal prostitutes. They run the country and tell us what to think.I think the citizen are more important. They fight the wars and pay the taxes. They also produce rather than blabber their mouth.

Do you think that having the news section and other RSS feeds on the board is a turn off for the locals?

I am not sure about the locals myself but I think most Americans want a fantasy world to assure them all is well.Reality is something they refuse to contend with or people would turn off the TV and start looking at the national debt as a problem for the future of the USA.The loss of industry will be known along with the consequences in the form of lack of real dollars. So if they want news it seems that the remote is as close as their right hand and click is all it takes to make it appear. But I use a computer to get away from the verbal/visual prostitutes who tell me lies for a paycheck the size of a big corp CEO's.They are as artificial as a plastic diamond. Americans are given a unique oportunity to think for themselves as free people but they allow themselves to be ruled as slaves.Google this >> comedy workshop << You will be surprised at the number of pages that is made available. An indication of just where our priorities lie theses days.
