I was an Autocad designer for years. Before that I was a MANUAL draftsman...pencil, paper, plotter...THAT sort of thing. Now, everytime I load Autocad it boggles my mind. I've been out of that business for 10 years and have forgotten 90% of it. It IS very complicated. A friend of mine teaches a class at Lee College that I'd recommend to anyone (including myself if I so desired).

When I just want to fool around with some designs and still have 3D capability I use VIRTUS. There's a free version you can download. I've had hours of fun with it.
